Hi
, I’m Lydia Charles Moyo
Visionary Leader & Advocate
About Me
Lydia Charles Moyo is a visionary leader dedicated to liberate young women and
girls from poverty and advance women and girls rights in Africa. Her work focuses
on economic empowerment and localized technologies to foster financial resilience
and influence social outcomes. Under Lydia’s leadership,Her Initiative has become
a beacon of hope, equipping young women and girls with the tools they need to build
financial resilience, overcome social barriers and realize their full potential.
Her vision? A world where a girl's potential is limitless and untethered to perceived
constraints. She believes that when girls are financially independent, they have a
choice. Her motto is: “Girls should not be limited to dream, the bigger the dream
the bigger the chance.
Lydia's journey is rooted in her own experiences growing up in a community where many
girls were denied the opportunity to complete their education due to extreme poverty
and limited resources. She was among the 9 students out of 200 who made it to high school.
This experience lit a fire inside, fueling her unwavering determination to dismantle the
barriers that prevent girls from reaching their full potential. As a high school student
she started a secondary school self-esteem and rights awareness campaign and later
entrepreneurship campaign to support her peers in university. Under Lydia's leadership,
it evolved into a dynamic organization Her
Initiative that champions financial independence among young women and girls in Tanzania.
As the Founder and Executive Director of Her Initiative, Lydia has dedicated her career
to breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering financial independence for women through
transformative economic empowerment and localized technologies.
Lydia also founded Panda Digital, Tanzania’s first Swahili hybrid e-learning platform,
combining cutting-edge AI SMS technology and online resources to offer skills and resources
for young women to run smart enterprises. ”
Lydia is also an activist who advocates for decolonization of funding for youth through
social media, blogging and capacity building. She mentors youth and young women who are
starting and running non profit organizations. It is her greatest desire to see
funding and resources and in the hands of young women. Read her letter of truth to power
