Globally, young women-led organizations are shaping the future. Yet, one challenge remains constant: accessing the resources needed to turn vision into impact. Fundraising is not just about money, it is about sustaining a mission, building credibility, and creating change that lasts.
Since the launch of LydiaMoyo.com, I have dreamed of creating spaces where emerging leaders can learn from those who have walked the path before them so they don’t have to repeat the same mistakes and can thrive faster. On September 13, 2025, this vision came to life with our first Fundraising Masterclass. 15 incredible young women founders from 15 emerging organizations joined us, bringing their passion, ideas, and energy. Each participant paid, with 70% of the fees supporting emerging organizations that have never received funding before, ensuring the impact goes beyond the session.
A Hands-On Day of Learning
The masterclass was designed to be practical, interactive, and inspiring, giving participants real-world fundraising experience:
- Dream Wall Icebreaker: Participants shared their vision and dreams, setting the tone for a day focused on growth, impact, and possibility.
- Storytelling for Fundraising: Through the 2-Minute Impact Story exercise, participants learned to tell their story in a way that connects emotion, credibility, and impact because donors invest in stories, not just ideas.
- Building Fundraising Tools: From drafting concept notes to reviewing organizational profiles, participants gained confidence in creating materials that make their vision tangible.
- Donor Relations & Pitching: Role-playing donor meetings allowed participants to practice introducing themselves, building rapport, and delivering persuasive pitches.
- Innovative Fundraising Strategies: We explored crowdfunding, community giving, social enterprises, and how to leverage regional and global events for funding opportunities.

I joined the fundraising workshop hoping to understand the basics, but I quickly realized it was much more than that. Firstly, I learned practical strategies that I could immediately apply to raise funds for my organization. I gained confidence in presenting my ideas and mapping out actionable plans. But because of this newfound knowledge, I now feel equipped to take real steps toward securing resources, and I left the session inspired and ready to implement what I learned, knowing it will make a tangible difference in my organization’s growth and impact.
